While a wealthy Swedish family celebrates the birthday of his Patriarch Alexander (Eran Josephson, crying and a whisper), the news of the outbreak of World War II reaches their remote Baltic island – and the happy mood is directed towards horror. The family descends into a state of psychological devastation, brilliantly caused by the light gray palette for the arrest of Tarkovsky, which was washed on the dark landscape around their house. (The film’s movie is by Sven Nikist, a long associate of Ingmar Bergman). For Alexander the Philosopher, concerned about the lack of spirituality of man, the perspective of certain disappears forces the supreme victim and enters the Faustian business to save his loved ones. The director’s latest movie, Made Whey, died of Cancer, the victim is the personal statement of Tarkovsky, a deeply moving, redemptive tragedy full of unforgettable images and a heart full of heart.
